GUESS WHO JUST GOT BACK FROM THE FINAL BUGGERY OF SCHOOLWORK FOR THE YEAR?!! 8D 8D 8D Man, crit was annoying. I liked everyone else's works, but--we ended up in the woods for several, so long pants and sneakers were necessary. Other works were on hills in the sun, or in the fucking parking lot. >( Man were my feet burny from discomfort. I also got some sunburn, if the GIANT RED CIRCLES on my shoulders are any indication, ahaha. And, I just laundered everything I was wearing and my keychain lanyard because I have a slight bumpy rash developing on the backs of my hands that may be poison ivy. It's way, way early for poison ivy rashes to be showing, but--better safe than sorry. I washed my hands seven times with a total of two different soaps and two dish detergents, and put on some aloe. I'm going to put on some oil-free Corn Huskers lotion (best stuff ever, seriously) here in a bit to combat the scaly dry-handedness. Allyn probably had more "constructive" crit for my piece than anyone else's, hahah. But then, mine was one of the few on-campus she hadn't seen in the working stages, so. And it is kind of blargh as far as craftmanship, but hey. I actually got points for making the damn thing abstract, ah yeah. Stuart was not as receptive to my paintings as I'd been secretly hoping, but I'm not shocked. Everything I've half-assed up in the last few days got a B; my interior-scape painting from the beginning of term got an A. I'm somewhere between B+ and A- in that class, which I am totally cool with. Also I just had the fuck pounced out of me by three people online (given that this is the first time in days I've been on in daylight without away message, I'm not shocked), Clara and Elizabeth want to hang, and I owe Tom a game of Magic. I also have to finish packing everything up, launder my bedsheets, eat something, and take a nap so that I don't die (with my thirty minutes of sleep this morning). Obviously not in that order. Okay. Nap now, then food, then hanging with Tom and/or the freshies in whichever order suits best, then packing. Away! I LOVE YOU ALL. <3 So fucking giddy~~ Tags: clara, college, elizabeth, final crit, final projects, glee, packing, painting i, sculpture i, summer, tom Current Location: Goucher - Dorm Room Current Mood: gleeful Current Music: Queen - Play the Game

I just spent several seconds looking at deviantART's comment box trying to figure out where the drop-down box for the Userpic was. Durrrheee. (Finished all my paintings! I also figured out a way to get a better score on my final Sculpture project with less work: instead of trying to make the figure really full-on dragony, I'mma leave it at the bare bones. It'll be more abstract and ergo more accessible! I has smarts. Yay for cleverness+slackerism. Now I just need to make sure Scott actually takes me to Wal*Mart tomorrow so I can get the materials to actually complete my piece.) I also need to buy another box tomorrow. By weight, there was no way in fuck I could get away with putting all Blick's stuff in one box. :| And with two massive blankets, I can't do it by volume either. Between that and wanting to leave all the nonperishable food here... yeah. We're gonna end up with one box each and one shared jointly. (And by weight I might still need to take some of Blick's stuff home. Which I don't mind! I just... feel like I'm going to forget to bring it back.) Must crash now. Been up since three yesterday afternoon, guh. [Edit] I'm sneezing so damn hard my nostrils are slightly bleedy. I get sick two days before final projects are due; what the fuck. Classes are over. In the last day of Life Drawing today I drew what may well be my best piece this entire semester. My paintings (finishing 2 "in-class" works that need to total about 8-12 hours' work, finishing 1 "homework" "interior landscape" that's already 75% finished, and doing a 3-hour drapery painting) aren't due until my 10:15am meeting with Stuart on Thursday, May 15. My final project in Sculpture I isn't due until final crit begins at 11:30am that same day. I'm going home either after final crit (ends at 3:00pm) on Thursday or early Friday morning. Since I'm storing Blick's stuff (as Blick is going home before storage begins), I don't have to worry about emptying the fridge super-early. Gilly is coming down on Sunday to visit Tom. Watching of Heroes, playing of Guitar Hero and other random awesomeness will commence. As Scott and Tom are both seniors, they're staying awhile. And I have a new Magic deck with which to play. One of Gilly's friends is a dealer at Otakon. All they have to do is work in the booth for 4 hours and they get free registration. This makes it SUPERLIKELY that they can come. The freshies are staying as long as I am. There will be Whedon-marathoning. I just bought my mom a Mother's Day card, stamped it, and put it in the mailbox. I also bought myself some chocolate because yay. I am in such a state of :3 right now. Man oh man. I hope yesterday/today isn't an exemplar of how the rest of the week is going to be. I will be dead by next week. I can't even remember what I did after class Monday. I painted in class! Landscape. It was nice. --Oh OH oh I do remember! Landscape sketches. After that... uh. No real clue. Was Monday HAY LET'S TALK ABOUT OTAKON 8D 8D 8D day? Eh. Yesterday, went to Life Drawing. We did portraits instead of body studies--and holy shit, I am really proud of the portraits I did. Lawrence's is off in a few places (I think I blame that on my apathy stemming from steaming hatred of the model), but Alice's is perfect. I can't wait to capture a digital image of it and put it up in my galleries. It's so beautiful. Didn't check in in Sculpture I--didn't care enough. Stayed in the drawing studio instead to do the landscape sketches (from the window) I hadn't done earlier. Got back in at the room around five, passed out until 11:30pm. Spent the next nine hours painting. Yes, straight (but for the three times I got up to clean my palette). It was so worth it, though. Still life: gamer geek edition. GameCube controller, deck of Magic: The Gathering cards, and two sets of gaming dice (plus an extra pair of d6s). It looks fucking gorgeous. From a distance of about six feet (which takes care of the slightly blurred edges), the controller looks photorealistic. The cards and dice fall into that at about ten feet. I am impressed with myself, not to toot my own horn. Again, can't wait to get an image of it. If only I'd painted it straight on the canvas. It's on matte medium-prepped art paper, which is slightly less awesome than it could be. Still, so getting this framed. I--I kind of want to put it in the living room in our apartment next year. Man. I love it so hard. It's so damn pretty. Anyway. After I got everything cleaned up, it was about noon, and I passed out until class at two. Took the still life in for final crit--everyone loved it. They were all "I WANNA PICK UP THAT CONTROLLER AND PLAY SOME NINTENDO :D :D :D" and more than half of them recognized the Magic deck for what it was. c.c I talked to a kid named Alex--the only male in our painting class--for awhile. Man was he fun to talk to. Got his number and promised to find him on Facebook. It's a shame he's graduating. Must keep in touch with him regardless. So I came back to pass out, but was... sort of awake. Stopped in to see the freshies. Ended up going with them, Tara from Life Drawing, and Tom into town. Ate a pretzel dog and a cinnamon-sugar pretzel from Auntie Anne's; Tom and I split from the freshies after a good chat to head to Legends. Tom and I had planned to buy/split a booster box from the new Shadowmoor set--but instead of the $70 we'd been expecting, they were pricing it at $109. :| Yeah, no. Neither of us had that kind of money. Yet, we both ended up buying Shadowmoor precons. c.c He bought the blue/black; I got the green/white. Hohshit. The cards in this thing are fucking phenomenal. I also bought a booster of Lorwyn and two of Saviors of Kamigawa. Got better cards overall in each Saviors pack than I did in Lorwyn, amusingly enough. Played a game against Tom in the store--doing so when you buy a precon saves 10%, so hey, why not. Lost. Not quite spectacularly, but man I saw some stuff I should have done fifteen seconds too late in at least three instances. I blame braindeadness. Stopped in GameStop on the way back. Managed to walk out empty-handed, though at different points I had a $20 brand-spanking new copy of God of War II in my hands, as well as used copies of Sly 2: Band of Thieves and Summoner 2. THEY WILL ONLY GET CHEAPER and I need to save my monies. I am proud of myself. (Also I should maybe beat the first in each of those sets of games before going to the second. e.x I own Sly and Summoner and Blick's got GoW. Guh.) Ran into Scott on the way back. Talked Pokemon, Magic, and Otakon. I--guys. If there is a semi-tall, lanky Rock Lee running down the halls of the convention center screaming SPRINGTIME OF YOUTH! over and over again--that's Scott. Lawd. So the point of all this is that I have been arting like a crazy person and I've now been up 23.5 hours. Granted, I needed the brain break in the form of socialization (I'd been getting pent-up and kind of passive-aggressive the last couple days), but man. If the rest of the week is like this I will die. Okay. It is naptime. Or watching the rest of Stranger Than Fiction (again) time followed by naptime. Snooooooze plz.
